First of all, what is the perfect table? It's the table that makes you happy and where you want to dine for hours with your guests, family or family members. Just as tastes differ, so do opinions about beautiful tables.
Here I want to explain to you what for me is the perfectly set table and how to set it in 3 steps. You can then add your own things to it. I'll show you some examples and most of all, enjoy the anticipation of the perfectly set table.
Because table setting is life.
Within these 2 colors you can vary, so you apply the ton sur ton method. If you choose blue and yellow, you can mix all the different shades within these 2 colors, complemented with white. So for example a soft blue water jug, with a dark blue bowl and a yellow ochre water glass complemented with a golden candlestick.
Note: gold for me is not a permanent color but an "accessory color" that you can always add in addition to silver.
Here you can see how the colors blue and yellow take center stage. The white items create tranquility. Especially vary with different shades that gives playfulness to your table.
Choose your colors based on beautiful pink wine glasses you bought, for example. Since it is such a defining color in terms of atmosphere, here I chose to work only in shades of pink. This way you create unity and reinforce the colors.
In this example, I chose an all-purpose tablecloth. You could also easily choose earth tones here, for example beige or white. This is beautiful but safe.
I find it more exciting to choose color. By going for pink you reinforce the red flowers of the tablecloth. Implement the pink theme here as well in different shades complemented by gold accessories.
Now if you were to start using yellow and blue accessories here as well (because the colors are reflected in the tablecloth) it becomes a color bomb.
Plus, I think pink and red are the ultimate tonal principle. Love it!
If you have a lot of green accessories at home, you can easily put them all together. One color can be added, for example ochre, but all shades of green is also already beautiful. So here too, the ton sur ton method is perfectly implemented.
For the accessories I prefer to work in groups of 3. Choose different items, for example a vase, a candlestick and a tea-light holder. Also choose different heights, which gives your table depth.
Other components of a group may include a water jug, a bottle of wine, a flat bowl with decorative fruit or vegetables or a decorative ornament (e.g., a bauble at Christmas or an Easter egg at Easter).
As you can see here I put 3 items together on either side. It gives the table peace when spots are left empty and not everything is filled (you can see this better with a table set for several people).
In addition, open spaces are perfect for when you have prepared a shared dining menu for your guests or for baskets of bread or a bowl of olives.
Groups of 5 works too, as long as it's odd. And see here how I play with a variety of accessories and layers. The colors are tone on tone, keeping the tranquility.
For table decorations, it is always very nice to look at the season. Nuts, for example, have a long shelf life so you can enjoy them all fall and winter as table decorations. I am also a huge fan of branches with berries on them for the colder seasons. You can store them well and they stay beautiful for a long time.
Work with layers. You do this with tablecloths, placemats, underplates, dinner plates, appetizer plates or soup plates and napkins. Layers give body to your beautifully set table.
Here you see 5 layers. I think that works tremendously well. The whole thing is very colorful, but still ton sur ton. In addition, you can see that you can mix patterns together just fine provided you interrupt it with a solid board. So also important to have plain plates in your collection.
Here you can see that by adding a simple sprig you create even more body. I am mega fan of capping a styling by a sprig, flower, dried sprig, thyme, Christmas ball, Easter egg etc. Throw all your creativity into this.
