Saint Snacks

Sinterklaas ... The perfect evening to not have to cook, but to put some tasty snacks on the table. Super cozy! Here at home the kids regularly help with cooking and especially during Sinterklaas it's great fun. It's often simple and there are many possibilities so you can easily put your own twist on it.

This time we made three different appetizers:

Crumble of speculoos with white chocolate mousse and peppercorns

Sausage rolls homemade the easy way

Crumble of speculoos with white chocolate mousse and peppercorns

For the crumble take a nice glass, tall or low, whatever you like. You crumble speculoos into this. On top of this goes a homemade white chocolate mousse and then top it off with pepernoten. Super easy to make, even for the kids.

White chocolate mousse:

  • 1 bar of white chocolate
  • 4 proteins
  • 500 ml whipping cream without sugar
  • 50 grams of sugar

How to make:

  1. Melt the white chocolate.
  2. Beat the egg whites until stiff.
  3. Whip the cream with the sugar.
  4. Stir the melted chocolate into the whipped cream mixture.
  5. Finally, carefully spat in the egg whites.
  6. Let rest in the refrigerator for an hour.

On a large board, make a big S with all the yummy snacks. This is where the kids can go all out. I used cheese, sausage, poffertjes and cucumber. But of course you can use many other tasty things for this. Use your imagination! Tuck some pepernoten around it, super festive!!!

Drain small knakworstjes, wrap them with puff pastry. You can do this in lots of different ways. Make a braid, a bow, or just wrap around them. Brush with egg yolk and put in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes. For the adults, it is also very nice to put some pesto in it. Or some haloumi cheese.
