12 bars
The way I maintain my weight is to eat regularly. This means 2 snacks a day. But yeah, what if you're on the road and you pick the wrong snack (read: rancid from the gas station). So I was looking for something healthy that I can easily put in a container or foil in my bag for 'on the road'. I then came up with this TOO delicious choco-coco bar. Just as tasty as that Mars at the gas station and definitely 100x better for your body.
For example, the dates and figs along with the maca replace the quick sugars and the same maca also ensures that you can continue working rock hard for hours, as maca is a natural energy provider. The dates, coconut, chia seeds and sunflower seeds make you feel satiated. Furthermore, all the ingredients make these energy bars healthy. You can call he took a healthy bar! When I make these bars I make sure to make big ones and small ones. Here in the picture you can actually see cookie shapes. That perfect when I'm a little less hungry. A small one like this with a cup of tea is really a treat!
I always store them in a container in the refrigerator and then you can keep them for a really long time. I usually finish them within 2 weeks. But 3 weeks they definitely keep, basically much longer.
100 gr dates without seeds
100 gr dried figs
20 gr grated coconut
50 gr pumpkin seeds toasted
100 grams of raw cocoa (no powder)
1 etl maca
20 gr chia seeds
Melt the cocoa over low heat in a saucepan with the maca.
Put the dates and figs in a food processor and puree until completely fine. Put the mixture in a bowl and add the rest of the ingredients except the cocoa. Stir everything well.
Make sure the cocoa is completely melted and let it cool a bit. Then add this to the mixture, stir well once more and pour it into a rectangular dish lined with kitchen paper or into a silicone muffin tin (or paper muffin tins) for the round version. Press it well and put this in the refrigerator for at least two hours (if you are in a hurry, they can also go in the freezer for half an hour). After that, they are ready.
