Meatballs with bell pepper sauce

So delicious this sauce. Here with meatballs, but also delicious with chicken breast, a steak or with potatoes and vegetables. Actually with everything! The main seasoning here is the anchovy, which works perfectly and gives a nice deep flavor to the sauce.


  • 1 large yellow onion chopped
  • 2 large cloves of garlic chopped
  • 4 jarred anchovy fillets
  • 1 jar of grilled bell bell pepper
  • juice of half a lemon
  • pepper, salt and olive oil


  1. sauté the onion and garlic in a pan
  2. Then add the anchovies and stir until completely melted
  3. add the bell bell pepper with juice and sauté for a moment as well
  4. Deglaze with the lemon juice
  5. Simmer for half an hour and then puree everything with a hand blender
  6. Season with salt and pepper if still needed

If you want to eat it with meatballs, fry them first and then cook them in the sauce.

Successful recipe! Husband at first glance thought it was meatballs in a tomato sauce that he is not very fond of and was pleasantly surprised when he tasted it. He even left some over to eat it with a sandwich tomorrow! Super tasty we thought!
